YOU TALK ABOUT A REVOLUTION

I resolve to stay on Bush and his oil slurping, right-wing Republican friends until hell freezes over, or until they return to the planet from which they came.
* Someone needs to do something about the health-care situation in this country, and it might as well be us.
* I'm hoping to get my second book started this year, but I can't come up with the first sentence. If I could get that first sentence, I might be able to figure out what the rest of the book would be about. I'm leaning towards, "In the beginning, there were Peeves," I figure the copyright on The Bible is surely up by now.
* I'd give up something, but I've gone that route before. It never works. This year maybe I'll take up something. Reverse psychology.
* Although not much of a revolutionary idea, I'm thinking of starting a soup kitchen. The government hasn't been very helpful for those that are hungry, short of spreading the bull, which isn't very filling.
* I would like to meet Castro before he passes on. This is one of the great revolutionaries of our time. And one of the last. While he does have his weaknesses, I really like his idea of kicking all of the rich people out of the country.
2007 would be a great time for a revolution. It may have already started in 2006. Right-wing Republicanism took one on the chin. Here's hoping 2007 will be the beginning of a new day, one built on integrity, compromise, and goodwill towards all men and women, everywhere, regardless of their nationality, color, religious belief, ethnic background, sex, or sexual preference. I got a good feeling abut 2007. You talk about a revolution!

Merry Christmas, broad daylight. Who do you think was here last night? Dressed in fur from head to toe, I won't tell you 'cause I think you know. MERRY CHRISTMAS, The Peever

I believe, for the most part, that we have already solved the energy crisis. Our technology is good, and the know how is there. We can make cars that get 60-70 miles per gallon, using a combination of gas and electricity, and solar and wind power are viable options. The problem is, in a capitalist society, the corporate boys don't want us interfering with their profits. We could easily be at 70-80% less dependent on oil, IF WE WANTED TO. Wherein lies the problem-We don't want to. It would not be conducive to huge profits. Here in Illinois, the utility companies are about to up our electricity rates 22%. The Illinois legislature really worked out a great deal for us. Instead of the utility companies raising the rates all at once, they worked out a three year deal at 7%, 7%, and 8%. As you can see, they're really working for us! How many salaries, or how many retirement incomes, or social security incomes, will go up 22% over the next three years? This is what we're stuck with for an energy policy. Instead of utility companies competing against one another, they cooperate with one another, and in the process, reap huge profits for themselves and their stockholders. Welcome to BushWorld and deregulation.
