Leave It To Peever

How members of the Bush administration does it take to change a light bulb? 1. One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changes. 2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changes. 3. One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb. 4. One to arrange the invasion of a country rumored to have a secret stockpile of light bulbs. 5. One to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Halliburton for the new light bulb. 6. One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner: Light Bulb Change Accomplished. 7. One administration insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how Bush literally is in the dark. 8. One to viciously smear #7. 9. One surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George W. has had a strong light bulb changing policy all along. 10. And finally, one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing in a light bulb and screwing the country. (Someone sent this to me. I thought it was worth sharing. Author unknown).

Where would you draw the line as a non-violent person: 1. Not killing anyone? How about in times of war? Or defending your property? Or family?
2. What about capital punishment? Don't some of these killers deserve to die?
3. How about abortion? Should we consider that killing?
4. Euthanasia? Just because someone is in constant pain, or is diagnosed with an incurable disease, should they, we, be allowed to take our own life? Would you consider that a violent act?
5. What about the killing of animals? Should a non-violent person extend their non-violence to animals? Insects?
6. Striking someone in self-defense? Allowed, not allowed?
7. What about paddling a child for misbehaving?
Where is the dividing line? Is there a dividing line? Are there degrees of non-violence? For that matter, is there any such thing as non-violence?

The Dixie Chicks take five Grammy Awards with their album, "Taking the Long Way", and their Grammy winning best song, "Not Ready to Make Right." I have to say, I loved it. They smacked old Bush right on the puss. As you'll recall, Bush and his merry band of right-wing yahoo's tried to ruin their careers after they made some critical comments concerning his intelligence. As you can see, he's about as good at ruining someone's career as he is governing the country. Congratulations to the Chicks for standing up for free speech and not cowering under Bush's vengeance.

Now I don't want to call it a hoax, but by the time Columbus got here there were folks. They seemed to be getting alone quite well, that is, until he started raising all kinds of hell.
He decided to send some natives back home, the King needed some gifts for the sailors loan. It ends up he did the King quite a favor, for it seems he sent him lots of cheap labor.
1776 was the year of the pitch, it was written by men who were rich. They wrote, "All men are equal," but that's not what they planned for the sequel.
They were all land and slave owners, who wanted to please their best donors. So they served up the rich quite a favor, they allowed them to keep their slave labor.
The civil war freed the Negro, they say, but it didn't go down quite that way. Freedom rang out from the coUrse of the dead, but it wasn't to be, cause the labor was free.
The minimum wage for your work is a joke, it doesn't even cover the cost of a smoke. The fat cats don't want you to see the favor, that by paying you poorly, they save on the labor.
And now there is NAFTA, which is nothing more, that the same old thing once again at our door. It's not about globalization, I'm sure, I think we're right back where we always were:
CHEAP LABOR
