 THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO PEEVER

* In the beginning, there were no humans. And it was good. The world flourished. Then God got this brilliant idea: Why not ruin everything?
* Ten commandments are not near enough. I would have 5, 354, most having to do with the rich screwing the poor.
* People mistake the Garden of Eden for creation. That was an orgy. Evolution is the creation story.
* Thou shall not kill. How much simpler can I make it?
* Do not take people like Oral Roberts, or Jerry Falwell, or Pat Robertson, or Dr. James Dobson, or Rev. John Hagee, or Jim Bakker, as spokespersons for Christ. He would have nothing to do with them.
* If God would have known people were going to get in wars over religion, he'd have never thought this stuff up.
* I have been noticing most people are not praying, they're begging. You got to knock that off.
* In the end, there was nothing left but politicians. And God said, "This is bad. Peever, you got to take over." And a deep hush fell over the land, and a voice could be heard crying from the White House, "Oh shit!"

 LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE THRU

To everyone who believes we can overcome Bush's negativeness, who remains optimistic in spite of it all, who challenges the falsehoods and lies spread by the government, who counters gossip and innuendos with questions and facts, who turns a deaf ear to racial and ethnic jokes, who goes out of their way to say hello to strangers, who embraces diversity for its richness and wholesomeness, to these people I say "thank you". You are countering a deep darkness that has settled over the land. This is the worst time I have seen in my 59 years. LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE THRU.

 THE DARK AGES

To all those persons who are busting their butts off trying to make ends meet on minimum wage, you are to be admired and congratulated. Yours is a tough time and an exploited one. To single mothers who must spend all of your money on health-care, child-care, and keeping an old beater running, keep your head held high and your spirit up. Look out for yourself and your children and take the best employment deal you can find. Things can, and will, get better. Don't apologize for nothing. This is not an easy time. We have stepped back into the nineteenth century. We are suffering through a Bush induced Dark Age. Keep the faith. We will overcome even this. Together.
