 A PARTIAL LIST OF REGRETS

* I should never have eaten so many of those Whoppers.
* Looking for God as though the Great Mystery can be found.
* After leaving home, not calling my mother enough.
* Writing too much and doing too little.
* Forgetting birthdays.
* Not telling my wife I love her enough.
* Being afraid to take "the leap,"
* I should be able to listen better than I do, particularly since I did it for a living.
* I have way too much stuff, and give away way too little.
* Regrets, I've had a few. I suppose it's not so much that you have regrets as it is what you did, or what you're doing, about them.

 THE DRUG WAR MIRRORS THE IRAQI WAR, OR VICE VERSA

The drug war is no more effective than the Iraqi War. The government lies about both. Jailing users and minor sellers is a waste of tax dollars. How often have you seen a "big" buyer of drugs go to jail? You know, a fancy businessman with a $1500 suit, sitting behind a big desk, smoking a fancy cigar. The answer is, not often. It's always the poor, often minorities, pawning off the rich man's stuff on the street. It's much easier to arrest them, more visual, and takes a whole lot fewer brains. There aren't many white, middle or upper class persons sitting in prison for selling, buying, or using drugs. It's apparently harder for the justice system to see white. Street dealers need to be punished, but it needs to be reasonable and humane. Users need help, not prison. The same attitude that believes killing terrorists will end terror maintains that jailing users and minor dealers will end drug use. This belief lacks intelligence and foresight.

 BUSH'S POPULARITY GOING DOWN

Bush's latest rating stands at 29%. That seems a bit high to me, but I guess it's ok. He should have stayed in Albania. They seem to love him. They can have him.

 I DREAM OF GENIE

I believe it is our patriotic duty to protest wrong doing by our government and to see to it that the perpetrators are removed from office. So I am hoping that The Great Genie makes Washington disappear. Anyway, that would be my first wish. My second and third would have to do with money. What would yours be?

 THE GOVERNMENT STILL DON'T GET IT

Al Qaeda is not an enemy you can kill or make disappear. It is a state of mind. It consists of being poor, humiliated, and living in utter and complete despair and hopelessness. At that point, talking someone into killing themselves for the cause is easy. It has nothing to do with being Muslim, or Jewish, or Christian. It was to do with being poor and not being let in on the wealth. We haven't seen anything yet. Wait until America's poor catch on. As a prime example, watch the obscene amount of money about to be made by the Blackstone Group founders. They are estimating one will make a billion, the other $500 million. And we wonder why people are angry.
